Hi … it’s Garry with news about our club.
On Friday 17th November we had our 20th Club Charity Golf Day. It was a huge success and a wonderful time was had by all. A big Thank you to our sponsors for their support and especially Alan Butler for organising another great event. His endless time and effort always make this day such a success for all. We look forward to the Golf Day next year Friday 8th November 2024, so put in your diaries.
Last Friday night we launched the “The Centenary Book. It was a fantastic event with government dignitaries, sponsors and members all enjoying a wonderful evening. The Centenary Committee did a wonderful job organising the night. A special thank you to Samantha Cleary for the delicious grazing table.
Our centenary book takes us along our Club’s journey from its humble beginnings in 1924 through to today. The book is 365 pages with over 1000 photos . It has been carefully crafted by Brian Dolly and Chippa who have painstakingly sorted through over 30000 photos to produce a beautiful publication. An ideal Christmas gift. So, jump on line and order one through our clothing shop.

Last Saturday over 40 candidates were presented for lifesaving awards. A huge effort by the training and education team. 14 went to Warriewood and completed their Bronze and 26 SRC’s were at Long Reef. I had the opportunity of assessing the SRC’s. I’m not biased …. but the standard of our candidates was outstanding. A credit to the training at Queenscliff. Thank you to Matt, Samantha, Leishea, Honnie and Gavin for training the SRC’s. Also thank you to Graham, Tiffany and Maddie for training the Bronze groups. Congratulations to all the new patrol members.
We recently placed an order for an ATV (All-Terrain Vehicle) which is due for delivery just before Christmas. It was through the generosity of Community First Bank that we were able to purchase the vehicle and we thank them for their support. The ATV will be used on our beach to assist our patrolling members in the transport of equipment and people ensuring quicker response to incidents. Over the next month specialised training will be arranged on its use. All drivers will be required to hold an ATV award.
Over the past few weeks our Nippers and Boaties have been busy competing. Great to see the Queensie cap so prominent at these carnivals. See details of results in the newsletter
