Flags up on Saturday 18th September 2021

Our season will start in a Covid safe environment and under restrictions.  Seasons on the beach change and this will be the case again with patrols operating in and out of restriction mode and with lots of rules.

Your Patrol Calendar is now on the website and has been distributed to our Patrol Captains.  Can you please confirm to your Patrol Captain if you will be returning for the season so they can update their patrol lists?  If so, put your patrol dates in your diaries and we’re looking forward to seeing you on the beach soon.  If you have any questions, please talk to your Patrol Captain.

What will safe patrolling look like this season you ask?

While restrictions are currently in place across NSW, there are a suite of measures that have been put in place to ensure your safety and wellbeing and we encourage you to review our website for updates.   We must limit patrol numbers to a maximum of six (6) bronze members on any one patrol including Patrol Captain, IRB Driver, IRB Crew, ART as per our Clubs Lifesaving Service Agreement while in these restrictions.

What you need to do to GET READY?

1) Pay your membership online Click Here

Please note that as membership of SLSNSW is valid until 30 September of each year regardless of when the member was granted or renewed their membership with their Club.  This means in respect to insurance, members are not covered past 30 September and cannot participate in SLS activities until their membership is paid.

2) Complete your dry skills maintenance (proficiency) online through your members’ portal login under “elearning” and “my training” and watch a video.  There are 2 questions you need to complete relating to the content in the video.

3) Wet Skills Maintenance (proficiency) will be signed off on patrol by your Patrol Captain

Make sure you complete your skills maintenance proficiencies as soon as possible before 31 December.  As we know Covid can interfere with our opportunities to get this done so leaving it until the last minute won’t work and exemptions are very difficult to get if at all.  If you are a competitor make sure you complete your hours and proficiencies well before 31 December.

That’s all for now.  As always, please let us know if you have any questions.
