Officials Training – Important Info for 2021/2022 Competitors
This year all competitors parents will need either Bronze or Officials qualifications. Competition policy below.

Last season we introduced the concept that competitors parents would need to help either as an Official, Water Safety or Lead Age Manager at competition as per SLSA guidelines and unsurprisingly each of these require training and certification. Hence if you don’t hold a current Bronze certification, we would be grateful if you could complete your Officials qualification. You can do this independently online.

Go to sls.com.au – login

Navigate to E-learning/Training Library
Select the course – SLS Officiating – view courses
Find the SLS – Technical Officials Course – $60.

Why do I need to do this?
This policy is actually at many clubs whilst it is new to us at Queensie. We have relied upon our Masters members who have done this for years and it is now time for them to step away. Our Nippers cannot compete unless we have a quota of water safety and officials proportionate to our number of competitors. This requirement is also necessary to be allocated a board.

Are there any benefits for me?
Officiating is one way to understand competition and see your Nipper compete. You meet people involved in the club and SLS. It is a way to give back to the club and help your Nipper understand how competition works.

WATER TRAINING AND WATER SAFETY
At Queensie we provide board training with some surf swim training in addition to Sunday Nippers. A great way to become water competent with sessions run by our expert and renowned water coaches.

Nathan Krieger – Nathan has been a Surf Club competitor for years, starting as a cadet at Freshwater and progressing to competitive Ocean Swimming and Surfing. Nathan brings experience from coaching Martial Arts, Skiing and now applies his love to Ocean sports.

John O-Toole – John is part of the Team Q family. A trainer, surfer and amazing with our younger Nippers assisting on Sunday mornings.
