Skills Maintenance is required every season for certain award/certificate holders:
- Bronze Medallion
- Surf Rescue Certificate
- Silver Medallion Aquatic Rescue
- Gold Medallion
- Advanced Resuscitation Techniques
- IRB Crew
- Silver Medallion IRB Driver
- Rescue Water Craft Operator
In order to compete in SLS competitions in the current season, Skills Maintenance must be completed by the 31st December – so please do your proficiency at the earliest available date.
Members are required to complete the Skills Maintenance theory component online for the following awards, via the SLSA Members Area eLearning portal, then click on Training Library and select “Skills Maintenance”:
- Bronze Medallion, or
- SRC
Bronze Medallion holders who completed their award prior to the 2019-2020 season will need to undertake a Spinal Management update to remain BM proficient. Click here to update your skills.
The relevant theory modules should be completed prior to undertaking the practical proficiency.
Mass practical proficiencies will be held on the following dates, commencing in the Clubhouse
- Sunday 29.10.2023 9:00 – 11 am
- Sunday 12.11.2023 9:00 – 11 am
- Sunday 26.11.2023 9:00 – 11 am

Silver Medallion Aquatic Rescue, Gold Medallion and Rescue Water Craft Operator Skills Maintenance is provided by Branch at an appropriate time to be advised.
